Access to Care

The mission of the Access to Care Work Group of the GOW Opioid Task Force is to ensure the GOW community has access to the entire continuum of care in order to end the Opioid Crisis in our region.

 

The goals of the Access to Care Work Group are:

  • To critically examine local services and support to determine gap areas
  • To create action plans to address identified gap areas
  • To share services and new initiatives collaboratively across the GOW region

Community Education

The mission of the Community Education Work Group of the GOW Opioid Task Force is to combat the opioid epidemic through education, providing resources, and working in collaboration with our communities.

 

The goals of the Community Education Work Group are:

  • To spread awareness of Substance Use Disorder (SUD)
  • To increase knowledge of prevention, treatment, and recovery services
  • To educate through Naloxone trainings and distribution to the community
  • To increase knowledge of non-opioid alternatives to pain management
  • To decrease the stigma associated with Substance Use Disorder (SUD)
  • To identify, engage, and collaborate with community members, local partners, and resources to support our mission

Data

The mission of the Data Work Group of the GOW Opioid Task Force is to gather up-to-date substance use related data for the region to ensure Task Force decisions and initiatives are data-driven.

 

In an effort to decrease overdoses and deaths in the GOW region, the goals of the Data Work Group are:

  • To share and disseminate related data to the Task Force, across agencies, and to the GOW community
  • To create and utilize diverse data sources to derive metrics which are measureable and meaningful
  • To critically analyze current data sources for reliability, relevance, and possible limitations

Family, Loved Ones, and Allies

The purpose of the Family, Loved Ones, and Allies Work Group is to give a voice for those whose loved ones are in active addiction or recovery as well as for those who are grieving the loss of their loved one. in the GOW region.

 

The goal of the Family, Loved Ones, and Allies Work Group is to give a voice to those impacted by SUD as well as raise awareness and commemorate the lives that have been lost.

Law Enforcement

The mission of the Law Enforcement Work Group of the GOW Opioid Task Force is to protect and serve the Genesee, Orleans, and Wyoming County communities with compassion and care and to ensure law enforcement agencies work together to reduce and prevent overdoses and deaths through enforcement, services, and education in hopes to improve the quality of life in our communities.

 

The goals and objectives of the Law Enforcement Work Group are:

  • To reduce overdose fatalities by examining and utilizing current and up to date data
  • To create provide a bridge to services and resources in the community, and implement immediate and effective interventions
  • To collaborate and share information across agencies to assist with enforcement efforts

HEALing Communities Genesee

The HEALing Communities Genesee Work Group is comprised of members working within Genesee County. Through various efforts and interventions, they strive to decrease the number of overdose deaths in Genesee County and our tri-county region while working alongside the HEALing Communities Study from Columbia University.
